Five well-known brands, five very different cleanup personalities. From pet hair to a quick pre-guest sweep, this is the no-fuss shortlist.
OUR SHORTLIST
We focused on familiar brands and on the features that actually make day-to-day cleaning easier: runtime, pet tools, smart floor sensing, easy emptying, and useful storage.
BEST PREMIUM EVERYDAY PICK
The polished, lightweight choice for homes that want a familiar name and a vacuum that turns into a handheld in seconds.
Why it made the edit: it is the classic “grab it and go” option when you want Dyson’s design language without moving to its largest format.

BEST FOR PET HAIR
A practical pick for quick runs around fur, crumbs, stairs, and the car—the kind of messes that never politely wait for cleaning day.
Why it made the edit: strong shopper familiarity, a simple convertible design, and a tool set that makes it more than a floor-only vacuum.

BEST SMART CLEANUP
For the person who enjoys a little cleverness in their cleaning tools—this one uses a sensor to react to the dust it sees.
Why it made the edit: it pairs a recognizable brand with a thoughtful “clean what needs it” approach instead of making you guess the right setting.

BEST PET-FOCUSED VALUE
A pet-parent-friendly option with a deep-cleaning fur brush, a removable battery, and that unmistakable Bissell purple.
Why it made the edit: it is built around the real-life pet-hair problem, rather than treating the pet tool as an afterthought.
